A shoebox is nothing more than two thin pieces of cardboard fashioned into a container.  However, it’s not until long after the shoes leave that the box recognizes its true sense of purpose.  It becomes a memory box filled with photos from simpler days, notes from former loves, trinkets from yesteryear, birthday cards from family and friends, and scraps of paper that once listed our dreams.  Despite being shoved under a bed, on the floor of a closet, or in a damp basement, a shoebox acts as a trusted friend.  It keeps our hopes, dreams, fears, and memories safely tucked away until we’re ready to face them once more.
